Apple products are known for exclusive features such as closing your rings for fitness purposes, however, sometimes we need some extra features to edit or change your movement goals directly on your Apple Watch. The feature is useful whether you need a rest day or are injured, an Apple Watch allows users to directly edit their fitness goals from their Apple Watch or iPhone. 

The guide will go through simple steps through which you can change your movement goals on your Apple Watch or iPhone devices.  

Primarily, there are three rings Apple uses: The red Move ring, The green Exercise ring, and the blue Stand ring. 

Now, let’s understand how these three rings are set up on your Apple device. 

Move Goal ring is automatically set up on setting up your Apple Watch, depending on your demographic data, such as gender, age, height, and weight. 

By default, Exercise and Stand goals are 30 minutes and 12 hours, respectively. These rings are exclusively available only to Apple Watch owners, however, Apple Fitness App is open to all iPhone users starting with iOS 16. 

Remember that these goals may or may not be realistic for where you’re at in your fitness journey. The good advice is to set achievable goals mainly if you are a beginner. In the meantime, if you are experienced, changing your goals is useful for avoiding losing straks when you are sick. In the meantime, the best method is to change your movement goals based on what suit your lifestyle. 

What are the Three Rings on Apple Watch?

The Apple Watch has three fascinating colourful rings that display various fitness goals. What’s more, users have the option to change fitness goals on their Apple Watch in order to accomplish realistic goals. Before proceeding further, let’s understand thoroughly about three rings represented in the Apple Watch:

Move Goal Ring – The Move ring is the red ring that represents the number of calories expended by the users regularly. The ring is located on the outer part of the Apple Watch rings. On the other hand, Move Goal Ring calculates the active calories used for climbing stairs, doing housework, walking, and exercising. 

Exercise Goal Ring – The Exercise Goal Ring is green coloured middle Apple Watch ring. In addition, the exercise ring tracks the periods of activity above or equal to a quick stroll. Generally speaking, the standard Apple Watch exercise ring goal is about thrity minutes daily, incorporating some deliberate exercise. There are many activities to consider such as Walking your dog, or climbing a long flight of stairs could inevitably reduce time. 

Stand Goal Ring – Stand Goal Ring is the blue inner Apple Watch. The Stand ring unveiled several hours you have to put in the SMS APIs.

On the Apple Watch

  1. Open the Activity app.
  2. Scroll vertically down and tap Change Goals. 
  3. Change your Move goal by pressing the minus or plus icons on either side of your goal number. Once you’re finished, tap Next. 
  4. Repeat the same steps for the Exercise and Stand goals. 

On the iPhone

Follow are the steps you can follow to change your movement goals on your Apple iPhone devices:

  1. Browse and open the Fitness app on your phone. Before starting out, you will need at least iOS 16 installed on your iPhone device. 
  2. Tap your profile picture located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap Change Goals.
  4. Change your Move goal by pressing the minus or plus icons on either side of your goal number. Once you’re finished, tap Next. 
  5. Repeat the same steps for the Exercise and Stand goals.
